TAYLOR SWIFT
Soundtrack to a New Generation
In the timeline evolution of “modern music” there are certain artists that personally mark
that juncture in time. There’s Elvis, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Madonna. All
music phenomenons. Pretty amazing company at 33 years old! Why is this? She has
been likened to McCartney, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan as a songwriter; mesmerizing
a legion of fans all across the world. Just a few days ago Taylor landed “Person of the
Year” on Time Magazine. In the “business” since 14, Swift has several milestones: The
recent ERAS Tour should bring in a billion dollars, and propelled her in the “Billionaire”
stratosphere. The movie of the tour has made about 150 Million, and helped give The
AMC theater chain a much needed jump start. Taylor is the 1st and only female to win
the Grammy for “Album of the Year” three times. Taylor has just broken her own “most
streamed album” in a single day with the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Cultural
Icon, trend -setter, magician of marketing, prolific songwriter, storyteller, and now, with
her boyfriend Travis Kelce, she has even made football more popular.
Taylor has traveled miles and accomplished so much since her early days on a
Christmas Tree farm in Wyomissing (West Reading) Pennsylvania. How appropriate
that her birthday is December 13! It is amazing how much she has done since I did this
drawing. All the while, all along the journey, she maintains her health; stays in shape
and is ready for the next challenge. Impressive indeed. Where to from here?
Here’s a few “Easter Eggs” (as she calls her little clues) to look out for in the piece:.
Her eyes: You’ll see her lyrics: “And I love you for giving me your eyes”. Also” “Your
little eyelids flutter ‘cause you’re dreaming.” Her right eye has ”Sorry eyes sparking up
my darkest night.”
Mouth: “I recall the late November, holdin’ my breath.” “Slowly I said, “You don’t need to
save me.” “And we talk, but I know I’m laughing.”
Right Ear: “I hear you laugh”
Left Edge: Taylor praises her dad: “Gives you peace when Dad gets home”, and “I
have an excellent father.”
Her Cheek: This Love. “You kiss my cheek.”
