DeVault is a California native living in western Massachusetts with family ties to the Hamptons. She earned a degree in art from Humboldt State University and later, a master of education from the University of Massachusetts. After retiring from a long and satisfying career as an educator, DeVault has immersed herself in painting once again, working in her home studio in Amherst.

Her paintings can be bold, vibrant, and thickly textured as well as pastel soft and delicately detailed. It all depends on where the painting leads her in the moment. Her creative process is one of exploration and discovery. She plays with colors and experiments with various tools, such as palette knives, brushes, oil pastels, pencils, and just about anything for creating shapes, textures, patterns, and marks.

DeVault has been represented by galleries in Provincetown, Santa Fe, California, and New York and she is collected worldwide.
